Teaching Experience
- 2006
- Academic Scholar, Montclair State University
"Documentary Workshop"This class is a theoretical and practical discussion platform that looks to investigate "Documentary". We analyze the different styles and historical movements that have shaped this category, also questioning the current "revival" and urgency people seem to be seeking in its scope. Is there a capacity within the medium to provide "reality" and "truth"? As in my former classes it is always my aim to support and encourage the individual to strengthen their whole "being" into their investigation, as it is only through the experience of the self that we may find a bridge to our voice as a maker.
Montclair State University, New Jersey - "Senior Advisor"
Monitoring the senior Film and Video class through individual and group critiques for their final show.
Montclair Sate University, New Jersey - Technical Advisor, Cooper Union
Assisting students with technical problems, responsibility for film equipment, analogue and digital editing, sound recording, software/hardware installation, over-seeing student equipment checkouts, and computer diagnosis on Macintosh platforms.
Cooper Union, New York
- Academic Scholar, Montclair State University
- 2004-2005
- Academic Scholar, Montclair State University
"Beginning Film and Video"
In my courses I traverse a number of different fields, knowing that, it is only by "hybridizing" divergent forms and contents that art remains challenging, vital, and in the end hopeful. Students learn to develop and express their own cinematic syntax, in word and in practice, while obtaining the necessary technical knowledge through in-depth editing critiques, discussions, reading and watching works by other makers in order to find their own artistic "voice".
Montclair State University, New Jersey - Technical Advisor, Cooper Union
New York, U.S.A
- Academic Scholar, Montclair State University
- 2003-2004
- Adjunct Professor, Montclair State University
"Beginning and Advanced Film and Video"
In all my classes I feel the need to stress the importance between a practical and theoretical dialogue and the heightened awareness that students of both medias must bring to producing moving images in the 21st century.
